A Word to the Wise T.I. - Cop Criteria for Crazy

At the National Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement's (NACOLE) 15th annual conference held in Austin, Texas, which took place from October 31 - November 3, police officers learned, at a seminar called, "The Reality of Working with the Mentally Ill," that they can make the determination that a citizen is mentally ill if that person exhibits the following:

Implausible story: "The FBI put a chip in my head" (or other fantastical claims);

Behaviors: Rapid or pressured speech, resistance to reason, whispering, monotone voice, screaming, yelling, rambling or incoherent speech, odd gestures;

Appearance: Disheveled, excessive make-up, clothes not appropriate to weather;

Verbalizations: Anxiety, depression, paranoia, suicidal thoughts, grandiose ideation. -

Many thanks to Sueann, and also to Eleanor White for publishing Sueann's message. Here's hoping that A Word to the Wise T.I. will be sufficient.
